Expression of The American Creed
The American Creed focuses on the idea of individualism, freedom, justice, equality, and humanity for Americans. There have been thousands of people who have served to make the United States a better place for everyone who lives here. As Americans, we stand true to our country. We show our appreciation and love for our country through a multitude of symbols, words, and rituals.
The Pledge of Allegiance
The Pledge of Allegiance was officially adopted by congress in 1942 but has been around since 1892. Growing up in grade school, we always took a minute out of our day to pledge our allegiance to the American flag and to our country. In that, we are gracious to our country and for those who serve to make our country what it is today. By saying the pledge at an early age, we were exposed to learning patriotism for our country and truly understanding what it is to be an American.
The Statue of Liberty
The Statue of Liberty is known to be a symbol of the end of American Slavery. This American landmark was established on October 28, 1886, and represents hope, freedom, and liberty. The Statue of Liberty was a gift from our ally, France, representing freedom for all. For a piece of architecture that stands 305 feet tall, it is a monumental landmark for Americans. For all that it represents, it upholds the true ideals of the freedom and equality we were granted. Similarly to the American Creed, Lady Liberty is an animate object that symbolizes equality and liberation in the United States.
The Fourth of July
The Fourth of July celebrates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence. For Americans, this day allows us to celebrate when American colonists broke free from British ruling. The Declaration of Independence was signed back in 1776 and celebrated similarly to how we do to this day. They would gather and eat while also shooting off 13 fireworks representing the 13 colonies who were then freed. The Fourth of July is a very important holiday in the United States. It allows us to gather with friends and family to appreciate the fact that we are free to live our American Dream. While considered an American, you are guaranteed the right to freedom and equality to live a life with no restrictions outside of the law.
The National Anthem
The National Anthem is something that is very incorporated in an American’s life. It represents again those who serve for the freedom we experience in our day to day lives, the beliefs of our nation, and our history. The National Anthem is a huge part of American sporting events. Before a game or match is started, The National Anthem is sung and performed to show thanks to those who have granted us individualism, freedom, and equality. By saying The National Anthem we show our patriotism to our country and the undying love we have towards those who have helped us to live free in our homeland.
Overall, as Americans, it is our responsibility to love our country and to support those who live in it. Despite differences among us, we live in freedom and unity thanks to those who make that possible today and those who did in American history. Without any of them, we would not be guaranteed the way of life we live today.
The American Creed has been an instrumental part of the American way of life and will continue to be. It allows us to be independent, free, live in harmony with those around us, and create an American identity. We are allowed to have different opinions and have equal opportunities no matter race, gender, or ethnicity. America is a safe haven for having a life of freedom and equality.
